"Still even a week later it seems so surreal, like a bad dream, but I know it's not," explained Sean Langston. Sean Langston vividly remembers discovering what appeared to be his wife's lifeless body. "The first thing I started doing was just screaming, 'Oh my God Kristi No!' She slightly raised her head and said, 'Sean hush. I'm still breathing. I'm so glad you're here, I thought they were going to come back and finish me off," remembered Langston.
Two pit bulls attacked Kristi three seperate times. The left side of her body and both her arms were mauled. "When I found her there was literally nothing between the wrist and her elbow but bone. This was my wife, my friend, my mate, and it just puts a feeling of terror in you that's indescribable," said Langston.
"We believe she's going to have lifelong scars both physically and mentally," said Smith County Sheriff J.B. Smith. A felony arrest warrant was issued for the owner of the pit bulls, Nolasco Gonzalez, but said they can't find him. "We believe he may have headed for Mexico," added Smith.
"All I can say is, if you know this man, if you know where he is, let the authorities know. He needs to be held accountable," said Langston. Sean said the attack could have been prevented. "She is such an animal lover, and that's what makes this so hard," added Sean.
Even after an attack that took so much Sean said his wife hasn't lost her love of animals, or her smile. "I see in her face, she is in a lot of pain, but she, she is one hell of a woman," concluded Sean.
Kristi remains in the hospital and underwent another surgery Monday. Sean said It could be months before she's able to return home and years before reconstructive surgeries and healing are complete.
A fund has been set up at Bank of America to help pay for Kristi's medical expenses. Contributions to the Kristi Langston Medical Fund can be made at any Bank of America location.
A third degree felony warrant has been issued for Nolasco Gonzalez. He is charged with attack by dog causing serious injuries.
The Sheriff's Department said they can't find the owner and are asking for help from the public in locating him. Sheriff J.B. Smith describes Nolasco Gonzalez as Hispanic man, 5' 8" and 160 pounds.
