Colorado teenager dies during rugby game

(KYTX) - In just two days, another teenage athlete has died while on the field.

Friends say Matthew Hammerdorfer loved sports and being outdoors. He was captain of his rugby team in Fort Collins. On Saturday, the 17-year-old died during a game.

He had fouled the other player, the ref blew his whistle, and Matthew stood up.

"He got up and started to walk a couple of steps and collapsed," said Austin Gloss, teammate.

An autopsy showed sudden cardiac arrest due to a congenital condition that enlarges the heart.
