The Smith County Chapter of the American Red Cross is helping first responders and victims of the Hawkins fire.
Red Cross staff and volunteers delivered breakfast to firefighters this morning. They have continued to supply food and water to emergency personnel throughout the day.
The Red Cross is also helping support a medical special needs evacuation shelter.
"We're here for local residents when crisis do arise; that's kind of what we do," said Tammy Prater, Executive Director of the Smith County Red Cross. "Right now our piece is more of a support function. The community all around is stepping up to help where they're needed."
The Red Cross has two general population shelters on standby.
