Taeler De Haes

I joined the CBS19 News team in July 2016 as an investigative reporter and multi-media journalist and am proud to serve as a watchdog for East Texans. Born and raised in Irving, Texas, I couldn’t be happier to begin my broadcast journalism career in my home state.

I attended the University of Missouri where I graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism degree in Radio-Television Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies, along with minors in both Mandarin and multiculturalism. To further advance my career and love for accountability and data-crunching, I stayed in Missouri for graduate school and earned a Master of Arts degree in Investigative Journalism from the Missouri School of Journalism.

In Columbia, I worked for KOMU-TV, the NBC-affiliate in mid-Missouri. I reported, anchored, produced and served as a teaching assistant during my time at the station. I also worked as a reporter, producer and teaching assistant for the Global Journalist, an international radio show in conjunction with KBIA 91.3, mid-Missouri’s NPR affiliate.

In 2015, I served as an intern at CBS News in Washington D.C. where I worked as a political reporter for www.cbsnews.com.

In 2016, I spent my last semester of graduate school as an investigative embed at WFAA-TV in Dallas. In addition to producing and assisting in investigations, I conducted my professional project on impact – how to measure the impact of an investigative story – and created guidelines for both commercial and non-profit newsrooms to aid in impact tracking which was published in the Investigative Reporters & Editors Journal.

Aside from storytelling, I consider myself quite the fitness fanatic. I am a competitive powerlifter, cycling instructor and Scivation athlete. You can often find me whipping up some variation of protein-packed baked goods (which always taste good, of course!).
