Carthage Run To State Final Is A Family Affair
CARTHAGE - The Carthage football team is going for their 2nd straight state title. It's taken a full team effort for the Bulldogs to get back to the championship game.
But if you look at their roster, you might notice one name more than the others.
"I think we have 4 or 5 Ingrams, and then we have Kelvontay Dixon, which is Keaontay's brother," says head coach Scott Surratt.
The Ingram family has played a key role in the Bulldogs success this year. There are 5 members of the family on the roster. Keaontay Ingram, Dewaylon Ingram, Darrian Ingram, Rayvon Ingram, and Kelvontay Dixon are all related and they're all teammates as well.
Keaontay Ingram says, "Playing with family, especially that many people on the same team, competing like that, man, it's special."
Darrian Ingram adds, "We've always played together, ever since we were little kids, Pop Warner football, basketball, soccer, really doesn't make a difference, we've always been playing together, so it's a great feeling, playing with all my family on one team."
They're all hoping to hold up the state championship trophy on Friday afternoon. But more important than that, they're excited to share the field together one more time.
"When we get older, we can look back and talk about it and how fun it was...it's great," remarked Dewaylon Ingram.
Carthage will play Kennedale in the 4A Division 1 state championship game on Friday at 11 AM at AT&T Stadium.
