One person died and one was injured after hitting a deer on April 7 in Polk County.

The accident happened around 8:45 p.m. on April 7 near Livingston. According to a preliminary crash report, 42-year-old Scottie Risden and his passenger, 54-year-old Joyce Hunt, were on a motorcycle traveling south on Farm-to-Market Road 350 North when the motorcycle struck a deer. Both Risden and Hunt were thrown from the motorcycle upon impact.

Risden and Hunt were sent to separate hospitals for treatment. Risden survived and is listed in critical condition. Hunt died from her injuries on April 9. 

Neither was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. 

The crash remains under investigation.
