One person died in a single car accident Monday afternoon, according to a DPS press release issued Tuesday morning.
The preliminary crash report states that 68-year-old Rita Schaaf was traveling north on Farm-to-Market Road 14 and attempted to pass a vehicle. She lost control, struck a guardrail then went into a creek, and the car ended up on its roof in the creek bed.
Schaaf was taken to a Tyler hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A passenger, 70-year-old Robert Shaaf, was also taken to a Tyler hospital. No word on his condition.
