UPDATE: Police have identified the person who allegedly helped Ebey escape.

Todd Sarazinski, 55, was arrested for hindering the apprehension of a felon and facilitating an escape from a correction facility.

He is being held in the Hopkins Co. Jail on a combined bond of $1 million.


UPDATE: Escaped Hopkins County inmate, Barney Ebey, is now in police custody.

Ebey was taken into custody in Henderson County earlier Tuesday evening after a search was conducted through wooded areas.

Before escaping, Ebey was an inmate on work detail and walked off from the Hopkins County Civic Center. He was originally in jail for organized crime related to a theft of heavy equipment.

The person that helped him escape and was seen on video giving Ebey a ride away from the area is now in custody as well.

It was determined that the escape was planned and the getaway driver was scheduled to pick up the escapee.


According to a Facebook post by the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office, inmate Barney Ebey walked off work detail at 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 27.

It happened at Hopkins County Civic Center according to the post.

He was wearing green stripes when he escaped and is in jail for an organized crime charge related to theft of heavy equipment.
