A pilot suffered non life-threatening injuries after his plane went down in a field in Panola County.
The accident happened just before 11 a.m. Monday morning. The pilot, 60-year-old Charles Flay Mayo of Jefferson, reported he had crashed while checking pipelines off County Road 2691.
Mayo was flying a Piper Model PA22135 fixed wing single engine plane. He reportedly lost power northwest of Carthage while trying to get to the airport and crashed into the field. He was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Marshall, Carthage and Beckville fire departments as well as DPS responded to the accident.
FAA will arrive Monday evening to start investigating the crash.
Mayo is a retired Marshall firefighter and works for a pipeline company.
