UPDATE: Due to inclement weather, The City of Tyler has rescheduled the Summer Showcase for June 29 starting at 6:30 p.m.

Why wait for the weekend to find something to do? Head over to Bergfeld Park Thursday night from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for the Summer Showcase in celebration of the re-opening of the new amphitheater and Centene stage.

The celebration is hosted by Tyler Civic Theater and the City of Tyler. All are invited to watch and sing along to songs and scenes from the shows Rock of Ages, Peter Pan Jr. the Musical and Legally Blonde the Musical.

Food trucks will be on-site and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and portable seating.

The City of Tyler accepted a $325,000 donation from Centene Charitable Foundation in 2016 for the renovation of the historic Bergfeld amphitheater, which was originally built in 1936 by a donation from Sears-Roebuck & Co. after the Tyler Sears store was the only store to turn a profit during the Great Depression. Updates included new sounds and light features, fixing drainage issues, shading seats and creating a grassy area for seating in the back section of seats.

The original rock wall remains, allowing the amphitheater to maintain its local and state historic designations.
