Tyler police continue to investigate two aggravated robberies of businesses that happened over the weekend.

The first robbery happened around 10 p.m. Saturday at the Sonic Drive-In located on West Gentry Parkway. According to a store employee, a male suspect entered brandishing a knife and demanding money. Two Sonic employees fought with the suspect, and during the fight, the suspect pepper-sprayed the employees and cut one of them. The suspect then fled the store in a white 4-door sedan westbound on Gentry.

The injured employee was taken to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury, and no money was taken from the store.

The second robbery happened around 8 p.m. Sunday at the Family Dollar Store located on Troup Highway. According to a store employee, a male suspect entered the store, displayed a hand gun and forced the employee behind the counter where he forced the employee to open the safe and register. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of money, then ordered the employee to lay down on the floor before he fled northbound on foot.

No injuries were reported.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.
