An Athens man charged murder and kidnapping was indicted by a Henderson County grand jury on July 3.

Timothy Wayne Washington, 45, was indicted for murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, three counts of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated kidnapping.

Gun Barrel City officers were called to the 100 block of Arbolado Drive in March to investigate a disturbance. Witnesses told them that Washington had allegedly fatally shot one man before fleeing in a vehicle.

Officers located Washington and initiated a felony stop and learned that the passenger with Washington was taken against their will. Officers also found a handgun inside the car.

Washington was arrested and taken to the Henderson County Jail, where he remains with bonds totaling over $1.7 million.
