On Sunday morning, Cherokee County Sheriff's Office received a call about a deceased person inside a vehicle in the northeast portion of the county.
Mario Rodriguez, 27, of New Summerfield was found dead from gunshot wounds on County Road 4415.
Rodriguez family reported him missing on Saturday night when he failed to return from a store.
Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division along with the assistance of the Texas Rangers processed the scene as well as a secondary location on County Road 4502.
Officials believe the suspect or suspects approached Rodriguez in the roadway on County Road 4502 and moved the vehicle to County Road 4415.
The incident is believed to have occurred between 8:20 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday.
