Upshur County Sheriff's Office is investigating a third homicide in just under two weeks.

Deputies responded to a welfare check April 6 at 446 Holly Road and discovered the body of James Earl Robertson. According to a police report, injuries to the body led deputies to treat the case as a homicide.

During the investigation, deputies were led to Sweet Gum Road later that day where they located and arrested Robinson's stepson, Clinton Ray Allen, for public intoxication and felon in possession of a firearm.

Allen was charged with first degree murder on April 7 after deputies gathered sufficient evidence in the ongoing investigation. Investigators believe Robinson was shot over a family-related dispute.

The body has been sent to Tyler for autopsy.
