Two teens are in the Smith County Juvenile Detention Center for allegedly stealing cigarettes from a Smith County convenience store early Tuesday morning.
According to the Smith County Sheriff's office, a call came in around noon from a parent stating that her son and another boy had confessed to the burglary of the Dollar General store on 12125 Highway 271 early Tuesday morning. Authorities had already responded to the store burglary that morning, and found that an unknown amount of cigarettes had been stolen.
Deputies responded to the second call and recovered two packs from the teen boys who explained the remainder of the stolen cigarettes had already been distributed to friends.
The boys, a 15-year-old and 13-year-old were positively identified as the suspects on the store video surveillance and arrested. They were processed and sent to the Smith County Juvenile Attention Center.
