A Lufkin man is in jail after causing two accidents and major damage at a auto body shop Tuesday evening while allegedly driving under the influence of PCP.
According to Lufkin Public Information Officer Jessica Pebsworth, McTavish Raymond, 45, fled the scene of the first accident after rear-ending another car on Abney Avenue.
He was on North Raguet Street when he veered off that road into two parked cars at A&B Body Shop, causing severe damage to those cars plus a third car.
McTavish was able to get out of his car with help from Lufkin officers, who noticed he had slurred speech, poor balance and other indicators of chemical intoxication. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
A witness told officers Raymond was traveling at least 70 mph in the 50 mph zone just before the second crash.
On the way to the hospital McTavish asked if he killed anyone and allegedly admitted to smoking PCP before he drove due to family stress.
He is charged with DWI and accident involving injury .
