A routine traffic stop turned into a high-speed chase late Tuesday, May 10, 2017 according to Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse.
Authorities arrested 57-year-old Randy Blair of Dallas in the Cherokee Shores subdivision of Mabank for evading arrest, possession of illegal drugs, stolen property and using a fake name. Blair also had a warrant for his arrest.
Officers said Blair had stolen little league rings and pendants in his possession.
Sgt. Matt Jistel said they first noticed Blair when he committed a traffic violation. Blair allegedly stopped the vehicle by the side of the road to let a female passenger out and took off at a high rate of speed with the Deputy in pursuit. Unable to navigate a turn, officers said Blair drove his vehicle into a field.
Blair allegedly gave a false name when asked to identify himself despite having his driver’s license. The Deputy said he discovered a substance believed to be methamphetamine in Blair’s car, including little league rings, pendants, assorted watches and a camera.
“Evading arrest, possession of illegal drugs, stolen property, a warrant for his arrest and using a fake name are the charges this man now faces as he sits in our County jail,” Hillhouse said.
