UPDATE: The Tyler Fire Department says they received the call just before 3 p.m. Wednesday. Four engines and a ladder truck were dispatched to the scene.

First responders who arrived to Duran Auto Supply saw heavy smoke and fire inside the building.

The owner of the mechanic shop said his employees were doing some grinding in the walls and the insulation caught fire.

There is severe damage to the building and several vehicles. There are no explosive tanks such as acetylene or propane inside the building.

At least two workers were inside the shop, but no injuries have been reported at this time.

The Tyler Fire Department will continue to investigate the cause of the fire.


According to Don Martin with the Tyler Police, a mechanic shop in the 800 block of East Line Street is on fire.

Large plumes of smoke can be seen for miles.

No word on injuries.
