A pregnant woman, who recently lived in El Salvador, has tested positive for the Zika virus, according to the Legacy Community Health on Thursday.

The first case of Zika in Texas has been confirmed.

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, two people from Williamson County contracted the disease while abroad.

People should remember to protect themselves from mosquito bites this spring as they travel, particularly, to warmer climates where Zika is prevalent, like Central and South America and the Caribbean.
