Irin Tradarian Rugley, a 21-year-old Longview man, was arrested for assaulting a police officer during an investigation early Thursday morning.

Officers from the Longview Police Department were at Stamper Park around 4 a.m. conducting an investigation when they saw a vehicle inside the park.

Since all parks in the city are closed from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., the officers confronted the two people inside the car.

Rugley, one of the passengers, did not cooperate with the officers, and struck one of them after getting out of the vehicle. Rugley then fled the area.

Rugley was found in the 1400 block of Mary Jane Street later the same day, and again became verbally defiant and resisted arrest, but was taken into custody on several charges.

Rugley remain in the Gregg County Jail and a bond has not been set for him at this time.
