Mitchell Permenter, a 31-year-old Nacogdoches native, is behind bars after police found methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia inside his vehicle at around 9 p.m. Monday at Farm to Market Road 2864 and County Road 106.

According to the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office, deputies were conducting a traffic stop when they saw two occupants inside a pickup truck driven by Permenter and smelled the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

Deputies identified Permenter and subsequently arrested him for driving while license invalid and placed him into custody.

Authorities also identified a female passenger in the truck and arrested her on local traffic warrants.

Due to the marijuana odor, a probable cause search was conducted by deputies.

The search revealed 13 grams of methamphetamine linked to Permenter as well as other drug paraphernalia.

Permenter was taken to the Nacogdoches County Jail and charged with delivery of a controlled substance and driving while license invalid.

The bond for both charges is set at $26,500.
