Johnathan Hemphill, a 43-year-old Spring native, died after a two-vehicle crash occurred around 6:30 a.m Wednesday on State Highway 146 and Farm to Market Road 2610.
According to authorities, a preliminary investigation revealed that Hemphill was driving a passenger car and did not yield the right of way from a stop sign on Farm to Market Road 2610.
After failing to yield the right of way, Hemphill drove into the path of a passenger van heading south on State Highway 146.
Hemphill was taken to a Livingston hospital and pronounced deceased.
The driver of the van, 65-year-old Point Blank, Texas native, was taken to a Livingston hospital for precautionary measures.
