Tyler J. Russell, a 21-year old man from Winona, Missouri, passed away after a Freightliner truck-trailer with a towed semi-trailer struck his construction sweeper at around 3:15 p.m. Friday afternoon on US-259 near Henderson.
After a preliminary investigation by police, it was revealed that 34-year-old Fernando Gomez Gonzales of Gladewater, was driving north on US-259 in the Freightliner on the left inside lane.
During that time, Russell was also traveling north on US-259 in the right outside land, sweeping the roadway.
Russell then turned into the left inside travel lane in front of the truck tractor when the crash occurred and was ejected from the sweeper machine.
When responders arrived to the scene, Russell was taken to Christus Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler where he died of his injuries.
The crash is still under investigation at this time.
