Two people have died and one is at the hospital after a shooting that took place around 8:45 p.m. Friday evening at a Panola County trailer home near County Road 334 between Panola and Bethany.
When police received the 9-1-1 call reporting shots fired at the private residence, the caller reported he believed the shooters were still on the scene.
After two Panola County Sheriff's Deputies arrived at the scene, they found two individuals lying on the ground in front of the trailer home.
Another officer arrived soon after and covered the door and windows of the home as the two first responding officers dragged the victims out of the potential line of fire.
Medical personnel that were also responding to the incident were told not to come directly to the scene until the residence was secure.
Additional deputies arrived and went inside the home to determine if the shooters were still there and discovered they were not.
However, police found the body of a white male lying face down in the living room with wounds from at least two gunshots.
Medical personnel were then allowed on the scene and determined one of the individuals found on the ground outside was alive while the other was dead.
The surviving victim was flown to a hospital in Shreveport.
A passing driver told police he saw three black men leaving the driveway of the residence in a gray or black vehicle, possibly a Nissan.
The victim was unable to be interviewed, as he was in surgery.
However, police will try to interview him once he is able to speak and possibly describe his assailants.
For now, police will not reveal the identity of the victims.
The suspects are not believed to still be in the Panola County area.
