A 2-year-old child was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Oct. 30 in Upshur County.
According to a DPS preliminary report, Randell Phillips was driving at a high rate of speed on Farm-to-Market Raod 49 east of Farm-to-Market 1795 when he failed to negoitate a curve in the road. Phillips ran off the road into a tree line.
An unrestrained 2-year-old child was killed in the crash. Phillips, the child's grandfather, was sent to the hospital in serious condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
