Tyler Police have five suspects in custody after responding to an aggravated robbery that occurred at 4:42 a.m. Sunday morning at the Kidd Jones located at 5015 S. Broadway S.

Officers were told that five young men came into the store, showed handguns then demanded cash and packs of cigarettes.

The suspects then fled the scene on foot after taking the items.

Police immediately began searching the area and found one of the suspects trying to hide behind a business on the 4800 block of Old Bullard Road.

All five suspects were then taken into custody and arrested for aggravated robbery.

Law enforcement officials were also able to recover all of the stolen items along with 5 airsoft handguns that the suspects displayed during the incident.

Police have released the suspects' identities (all from Tyler):

  1. Jontel Cruse, male age 17
  2. James Inlow, male age 17
  3. Juvenile (name not available), male age 16
  4. Juvenile (name not available), male age 15
  5. Juvenile (name not available), male age 13

The two 17-year-olds were placed in the Smith County Jail and the three juveniles were placed into the Juvenile Attention Center.

It has been determined by police that all five suspects were reported as runaways from a local youth center in Tyler on Saturday evening.
