An East Texas teacher is placed on leave following an allegation of inappropriate conduct.

Zavalla ISD Superintendent Ricky Oliver released this statement:

“The safety and welfare of all Zavalla ISD students is the District’s first priority. The District was made aware of allegations of inappropriate communications made by a teacher toward a student on Thursday and placed the educator on administrative leave with pay. The District is working with local authorities to investigate any potential misconduct. The District intends to take appropriate action after completion of a full investigation into the matter.”

Oliver confirmed to CBS 19 the allegation came from a miscommunication in email.
