A Carthage Middle School football player remains in a Dallas intensive care unit after collapsing at a football game last week.
Jasabira Pope was flown to Children’s Health hospital overnight and is undergoing tests.
His mother Laquittequa Jernigan said he still wants to meet the people who helped save his life on the field.
“i got the firefighter's name that was on the scene and they are giving him an award on the14th and i told him me and my son will be there also,” Jernigan said.
She said that doctors have talked about attaching a small defibrillator to his heart in the event it stops beating again and will remain in the hospital for several days.
