Volunteers at Dayspring United Methodist Church gathered before dawn on Friday to load up trucks and head to Canton to help tornado victims.
Matthew Lavender led the group of volunteers in prayers before leaving for Canton Friday morning.
“The challenge in the area is getting other responders in because of logistics due to all the fallen trees,” Lavender said.
The group worked to clear collapsed trees and debris that had trapped residents in their homes after Saturday’s tornados.
One resident, Linda Eddy, watched as volunteers cleared debris around her home.
“I don’t have the words to describe how full my heart is with all the help we’ve received today,” said Eddy.
