FBI recruits for exciting careers at TJC

The FBI was at TJC on Monday recruiting for positions that ranged from special agents to intelligence analysts and lots in-between.

TYLER — If you've always dreamed about being a secret agent, a few East Texans were in luck because the FBI was recruiting potential employees at Tyler Junior College on Monday afternoon.

Available careers ranged from special agents, to intelligence analysts, and more.

Nicole Wynne is a Supervisory Administrative Specialist.

"It wasn't anything that was on my radar," Wynne said. "It was an opportunity that presented itself, and I went for it."

Before she joined the FBI, she got her start at TJC.

"I'm an East Texas girl," Wynne said. "Gladewater, born and raised."

She said the opportunities that have come with her career are beyond anything she could have imagined, and she's excited to get to share that at her alma mater.

"This is a great start for these kids here to come and see people that look like me doing amazing work," Wynne said.

Eric K. Jackson is the special agent in charge of the Dallas FBI office.

He said they recruit at two-year colleges like TJC because it's important to get on student's radars as early as possible to get them on the FBI track.

"We're reaching out for our future leaders, our future special agents, our future intelligence analysts and professional staff," Jackson said.

He said his 20 years in the FBI have been the most exciting of his life.

"There is no job similar to the FBI, Jackson said. "There is no career similar to the FBI. There is no experience similar to the FBI."

His selling point to students he meets is that no two days are ever the same.

"Every day is going to be different, every day is going to be exciting, and every day is going to be in service of this great country," Jackson said.

For Wynne, she said finding the untapped talent in East Texas is what makes her so excited to come back and be a part of this recruitment.

"This is an amazing opportunity to come home and represent where I live and what I love and share it with the world," Wynne said.

The education needed for an FBI career varies for each position, but some don't even require a four year degree.

If you didn't make it to today's recruitment, you can apply to any of their jobs online.
