The city of Linden hosted a special guest in honor of their Main Street designation.
Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott congratulated the city on being a part of the Main Street Program. The program helps revitalize historic downtown cities in Texas.
“That’s what we are trying to do, is bring Linden back into a thriving Northeast town in Texas.” Main Street Linden Chair Jo Anna Duncan said.
Linden becomes the 89th city to receive the designation. The city will now receive state resources to help the downtown area.
This includes small business assistance, access to grants, downtown planning, and other resources.
The First Lady stayed after the ceremony meeting residents and taking pictures.
The newest business in for Linden is the County Seat Cafe. Owner Reeda Rhyne, hosted her grand opening today, in honor of the First Lady's visit.
“Our grand opening is in honor of her visit; she is helping to build up the city.” Rhyne said.
A resident tells us the First Lady's visit brought a renewed sense of pride for Linden residents.
