The City of Tyler kicked off its Fourth Annual Wine Swirl in downtown this evening.

Attendees spent the night tasting wines from over two dozen wineries and restaurants across the state. Vendors say the wine swirl brings out the best of East Texas.

The event also hosted several local artists who showcased and sold their artwork.

One local artist says the wine swirl highlights the arts and culture of Tyler. Artists say the wine swirl helps other unknown artists sell their work.

"This event brings culture to East Texas and helps local artists establish themselves." Artist Dace Lucia Kidd said.

The Wine Swirl serves as a fundraiser for the department's budget and Tyler's downtown revitalization projects.
