Meggan Barstow, a 28-year-old Garrison mother of five, was arrested at around 2 a.m. Thursday after police responded to a sick call from her residence on the Francis Loop and discovered hazardous living conditions.
When police arrived to the residence, Sheriff Deputies saw that two of the five children swallowed some paint that was left in the bedroom.
Deputies found that conditions in the residence were terrible and unsafe for the children to live in.
Police also say there were feces all over the home, on beds, walls and floors. The sinks were clogged and there was no way of bathing the children inside the home.
Barstow was arrested for child endangerment, a state jail felony.
Child Protective Services were then called to the residence and all five children whose ages ranged from infant to 6 years old were taken away.
