A Good Samaritan organized a community pickup, after concerns of trash-filled county roads in Lindale.
Vernon Williams moved to East Texas seven months ago from just outside of Reno, NV. He and his wife were looking for a change of scenery for retirement.
"Google said Tyler was the best place to retire," Williams said.
While he loves the town, he said the trash on the roads is something he's determined to change.
"If nobody is picking it up, how bad is it going to get? You have such beautiful scenery, I don't know why you would want to mess it up with trash," Williams said.
Brookshire Grocery Company spokesperson Ellen Reynolds said the Brookshire's in Lindale plans to donate water, trash bags and some safety vests for volunteers.
"I think it's really important that we try and keep our community clean and nice looking. It's not just up to the city workers to do it for us," Williams stated.
The community cleanup is set for Saturday, April 7 from 8:00 a.m. to noon in the parking lot behind Love and War.
If you want to volunteer, all you have to do is show up.
