Home damaged in early morning fire on Richardson Drive

Investigators believe the fire began inside a car parked in the carport before it spread to the rest of the structure.

TYLER, Texas — No one was hurt after a house caught fire Monday morning in Tyler.

According to the Tyler Fire Department, the fire happened at 622 Richardson Drive at about 5:48 a.m.

TFD says the caller heard a loud noise outside their home and saw their neighbor's garage was on fire.

When first responders arrived on the scene, they saw a vehicle was on fire beneath a carport. However, the fire spread to the home attached the carport. 

Three engines, one ladder truck, a battalion chief and investigator responded to the fire. The fire was under control by 6:12 a.m., and the scene was clear by 7 a.m.

The fire department says all the residents inside the home safely evacuated. There were injuries.

Fire investigators believe the fire started inside the parked vehicle before it spread.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
