Thanksgiving day can be a time for people to catch up with family and friends while enjoying home-cooked meals. Sometimes it doesn't work out that way because someone may bring up a topic that causes conflict. Some East Texans believe it's unnecessary drama. John Burnley said he'd rather not talk about current event and what he saw in the news.

"Just let them go," Burnley said.

People said politics, relationships and money are a few topics that are often brought up at the table. Ginger Wood described those topics to be 'downers' and it can ruin the Thanksgiving mood.

"I don't like to get into a whole lot of conflict and whole lot of frustrating situations and conversations," Wood said.

Some East Texans suggested talking about music, books or movies. One can discuss what goals they have for the new year. Thanksgiving is supposed to be a good time and the Cowboys are playing on the holiday. If there's nothing else to talk about, surely, football can keep a person busy.
