Keep Tyler Beautiful and Tyler Junior College teamed up to host an Adopt-A-Campus kickoff event at noon Thursday on the front lawn of the campus.

TJC will officially adopt its own campus as part of the Keep Tyler Beautiful’s Adopt-A-Spot initiative, according to a city of Tyler news release.

TJC will hold an adoption drive for students, which will allow student groups to adopt one of the 17 zones on the campus.

The student groups will pledge to clean up the spot four times annually for a minimum of one year, according to the news release.

TJC is challenging the students to take pride in keeping their campus clean. There will be a competition for the cleanest, well-kept spot.

“Having student groups adopt sections of the campus and take ownership of their campus will set standards for the other students to do the same,” said Angela Cardoza, Keep Tyler Beautiful’s community coordinator. “Making it a fun, friendly competition is an exciting addition to our program.”
