The local Rotary International clubs are accepting entries from public organizations, bands and other groups to participate in the 2016 Tyler Christmas Parade.
The parade will be held in downtown Tyler and begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1. The Christmas Parade will officially welcome the holiday season, and most importantly the arrival of Santa Claus riding in his signature fire truck. The Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Square will serve as the finale. Preparations are currently underway to mark this event.
This year’s parade theme is Serving Humanity and winners will be selected in six categories: Best Holiday Theme, Best Band, Brightest Entry, Spirit Award, Most Creative and Best Decorated Vehicle. The parade is sponsored by the three Tyler Rotary International clubs: Rotary Club of Tyler, South Tyler Rotary and Sunrise Rotary.
Parade check-in will begin at 5 p.m. Dec. 1 at The Salvation Army parking lot on the corner of Broadway Avenue and Bow Street. Entries will line up at Broadway Avenue and Bow Street and will travel down Broadway. The parade route travels south on Broadway before turning right onto Ferguson Street, left on Bois d’Arc Avenue, left on Erwin Street and left on Spring Avenue. The Christmas Parade will be fun for the whole family and everyone is encouraged to attend the festive event.
