Officers with the Longview Police Department and Longview Animal Services are investigating an animal cruelty case after a dog was shot with an arrow on Wednesday afternoon near Rowley Court and Glover Drive.

After police were dispatched to the area, they found the dog that was shot with an arrow but still alive.

The dog was immediately taken to the Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center to undergo surgery to remove the 20" arrow that went through his lungs.

Medical staff later found out the dog was also shot multiple times with a pellet gun and still had a pellet inside his body.

A veterinarian removed the arrow and the dog survived.

Police and Animal Services would like anyone with information to come forward and call them or contact Crimestoppers at 903-236-7867.

UPDATE: CBS 19's Tristan Hardy paid the dog a visit and he is doing just fine now. The veterinarian says it was a miracle he lived.
