Downtown Longview is about to bring back a historic landmark.
The old McCarley's Jewelry Store clock, will soon make it's return. The store has since gone out of business, but at one time it was one of the most popular jewelry stores in the city.
"I remember as a child going to McCarley's and I always saw that beautiful clock," Longview resident John Robbins says. "It brings so many good memories of the city."
Since the 1920's the old McCarley's clock has been standing tall, now not only is the clock gone but the the business. The doors closed last year but the owner is donating the clock to the Gregg County Historical Museum.
"It's going to bring back a lot of memories, a lot of nostalgia, and its going to be a great addition to the front of the Gregg County Historical Museum." - Gregg County Historical Museum Executive Director Lindsay Loy said.
Longview city council has approved the the location of the clock. "It's going to be located very close to the building of the Gregg county historical museum, but in order for it to be located in the sidewalk business does need to be filled out," Longview City Planner Angela Choy said.
