The Marshall City Manager's request to appoint Cliff Carruth as Marshall's new Police Chief has been approved after a commission meeting on Thursday.

Carruth has over 25 years of law enforcement experience and will be retiring from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

He spent six years as an officer for the Longview Police Department and most recently, acted as the Senior Supervisory Resident Agent at the Little Rock Division of the FBI.

"I find him professional and I feel confident that he is the right fit for the City of Marshall and the Marshall Police Department," Marshall City Manager, Lisa Agnor said.

Carruth will replace Interim Police Chief, Ron Davis.

"My family and I are very happy to be moving back home. I will work tirelessly with the department to ensure that we provide superior police services and partner with the community to make Marshall safer," said Carruth.

He starts his new role at the end of October.
