A section of Rose Rudman trail will close on Thurs., May 11 through Tues., May 16 for maintenance.

The portion scheduled to close is the length of trail from Rieck Road moving south to Grande Boulevard.

Crews will be mulching the understory along that portion of trail to "reduce safety concerns of users, increase aesthetics of the trail, remove invasive species and mitigate hazardous fuel in the wildland urban interface," according to a press release issued by The City of Tyler on Wednesday.

The work will be completed by both the City of Tyler Parks Department and Texas A&M Forest Service.

“As an organization devoted to protecting and enhancing forest and native tree resources, TFS is strongly committed to the restoration, protection and conservation of native ecosystems,” says Zaina Gates, TFS Staff Forester. “We are also in support of the removal of invasive species such as kudzu and Chinese privet in the City of Tyler.”

Maps will be posted on kiosks along the trail marking the closed area.
