October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign designed to increase awareness of the disease.
It's held to educate the community on the importance of mammograms, self-breast exams and early detection. The East Texas Pin-A-Sister will be hosting an event at the Tyler Public Library on Oct. 22 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
Event panelist include Ebony Fowler of Lush Group’s Events and Community Outreach; Johnny Barrera, B-Fit Personal Training; Tosha Blackmon-Lacy, Black Nurses Rock; Regina Davis, ETMC director; and Tracy Sawyer, Ross Breast Center.
A pinning ceremony will be performed for all attending women who pledge accountability to self-breast exam and schedule mammograms as needed.
Tyler Public Library is located at 201 S. College Ave. in Downtown Tyler.
