Mother's Day was created in 1905 by a woman who lost her mother during the Civil War.
After the day became more popular, on May 9th, 1914 President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Mother's Day a national holiday. It is to be held on the second Sunday of May.
Pink Heals volunteers are following that tradition by handing out roses to every mother at the Longview Ihop. Those flowers brought smiles to many faces.
“This day means a lot to me because it symbolizes my greatest gift, which is my children.” Mother Janet Abron said.
Volunteers tell me they will hand out 600 roses during the event. The goal is to make every mother feel special.
