MT. SELMON- According to the Cherokee County Sheriffs's Office one person is dead, and another arrested on a murder charge .
Around 4:00pm Wednesday, November 30th, 2016, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call that a person had been shot and killed.
The caller advised he was at the 700 block of CR 3706 near Mt. Selmon, north of Jacksonville. Officers arriving at the scene were met by the owner of the mobile home, Rayburn Hobbs, age 82.
Inside the residence was a male who apparently was deceased and appeared to have been shot. The deceased was later identified as Jimmie Gale Zinn, 69 years of age.
It was later learned that he recently moved from Idaho and was staying in the east Texas area.
Justice of the Peace for Pct. #3 Phillip Grimes held the inquest and ordered the body taken to East Texas Forensics in Tyler for an autopsy. CCSO Investigators Johathan Hughes and Brent Dickson arrested Hobbs for Murder and he was transported to the Cherokee County Jail.
On Thursday morning Justice of the Peace for Pct. #1 Brenda Dominy set bond on Hobbs at $1 million dollars.
