CAMP COUNTY - A deputy responded to a call about a prowler in the neighborhood of FM-556. The check up almost turned fatal when gunshots nearly missed him but damaged his patrol car.

Around four in the morning, when the deputy arrived to the home where the call made, he was shot at as soon as he opened the resident's gate.

The deputy is okay. Police, swat and deputies surrounded the home. Five people have been detained, but no one was arrested or charged. Sheriff Alan McCandless said one person of interest could be behind the the shooting.

The investigation is still on-going. The sheriff said once somebody is arrested, they will be charged for 'attempted capital murder of a police officer'.
