TYLER, Texas – The cities of Lufkin and Diboll are rallying behind an East Texas native.

Earlier this year, Angel Simpson’s life changed forever.

She learned her 3-year-old daughter, Brooke Williams was diagnosed with a not so common form of brain cancer.

"Brooke was diagnosed April 1st with a rare brain cancer called Ependymoma,” Angel Simpson said.

Now desperate for help, Simpson says she wants to do everything in her power to spread the word.

While the cancer initially formed in Brooke's brain, within months, it traveled down her spine.

Given just hours to live, the once vibrant toddler now lies still in a hospital bed.

What started out as stage three cancer, even after treatment has evolved into a stage four cancer diagnosis.

The debilitating disease has now paralyzed the toddler.

Simpson says there were no signs that a disease of this magnitude was lurking in her child’s body.

"She got regular checkups like any other toddler and none of this was ever brought to our attention until it was too late to do anything about it,” Simpson added.

While she is still hoping for a miracle with her own child, Simpson is now making it her mission to warn other parents.

"I really just want to make more parents aware of this because even though your child is born healthy and everything may seem fine, it's just something that can happen,” she said.

Although Simpson has received quite a bit of support from the Lufkin and Diboll communities, the family’s expenses are still adding up.

Her aunt recently set up this GoFundMe account to help support the family.

"At this point, it's just a crunch for time and prayers are greatly needed and appreciated,” she said.

After talking to multiple doctors at some of the top hospitals in the country – most saying they've done all they can do, Simpson is now considering a different type of medicine.

"We've looked into alternative treatments,” she said. “There are holistic doctors that have other ways of treating cancers, then what people in the U.S. can do."

Even with all the bad news, Brooke had one of the happiest times of her life recently at the happiest place on earth – all made possible by the Make a Wish Foundation.

The family is still at Dallas Children's Hospital where they will likely be for the next few months.
