A famous tradition continues with Friday evening's Rose Festival Kickoff celebration at the Willowbrook Country Club in Tyler.
The festival is known far and wide as a celebration of the rose industry, one that thrives in the city of Tyler.
Seven companies surrounding the Tyler area process and distribute several million roses each year, making the city more than deserving of it's "Rose Capital" title.
Tyler handles roughly 75 percent of all roses in the country.
The festival is also a celebration of community, crowing a Texas Rose Festival Queen each year. Emily Kaye Evans will reign as Tyler's Rose Queen for 2017.
A Duchess is also crowned at the festival, with this year's title going to Caroline McGinley Bertram.
Tyler's famous festival will be held on October 19 through October 22, with this year's theme: "Celestial Wonders".
