Tyler Police started a new outreach program for their officers to dive into communities and listen to your concerns.

Officer April Molina grew up in North Tyler and says she wants her community to be safe.

"We're here to build a community relationship, help them in whatever possible way,” Officer Molina says. “If we don't know the answer, we will find the answer for them."

Tyler Police also brought a representative from the Mexican Consulate to meet with families in the community.

Representative Guido Arochi says he wants to ensure people that the police are here to help not handle immigration matters.

Police encourage people to speak with officers about their concerns. They say tips help to make neighborhoods safer.
