The Tyler Police Department has released its 2016 Crime Statistics Report.
According to the press release, the report separates crimes into two parts.
Part 1 crimes:
- Overall are down -1.26%.
- Violent Crimes (Homicide, Sexual Assault, Robbery, Aggravated Assault) are up +18.67%
- Property Crimes (Burglary, Theft, Auto Theft) are down -3.08%
Part 2 Crimes:
- Are up +7.61% (this includes forgery, fraud, prostitution, etc.)
Chief Jimmy Toler issued the following in the release:
[I am] very proud of the men and women of the Tyler Police Department as they work to identify and address crime. This is the most evident in the efforts that officers took to address robberies, gambling, illegal drug violations, and driving under the influence (DUI). A commitment to community policing and strong community relationships continue to be our focus.
